LIZ LYONS FRIEDMAN
February 27, 1949 - April 10, 2022
My work is content oriented; daily life, romance, fun, friends, celebrations, wine & happy memories. I work from personal experiences; sketching & taking reference photographs.
Using my sketches & my imagination I prepare a drawing to be transferred to a linoleum block.
I carve into the surface of the block using knives & gouges. The “white” or non-printing areas are carved away. The areas I do not carve away will print (the black areas).
Each original linocut is hand-printed with black ink on white paper using a hand cranked press. I hand color my linocuts using many layers of transparent & vibrant watercolor. Each is unique.
